Discover the peaceful beauty of the Isle of Muck

– NOW FINISHED FOR THE SEASON –

A haven for walking and wildlife enthusiasts, the island of Muck is the smallest and most fertile of the Small Isles.  Sailings take approximately two hours, (including a half-hour stop at Eigg first) and may extend slightly if marine wildlife such as whales, dolphins, or seabirds are sighted en-route.  Visitors arriving on Muck for a same-day return have three hours to explore, with the option to pre-book a picnic from the island’s café, ‘Choc-Ness’.

Disembarking at Port Mor, a road leads across the island to Gallanach, offering an easy 25-minute walk with panoramic views of Eigg and Rum.  Near Gallanach, six sandy beaches await, and those climbing Ben Airean (451′) are rewarded with expansive vistas of Skye, Coll, Tiree, Barra, Eriskay, Vatersay, South Uist, in clear conditions.

Just off Gallanach, Horse Island (accessible only at low tide) is home to numerous nesting seabirds, including a puffin colony.  Accommodation ranges from self-catering and B&Bs to a bunkhouse or yurt, with further information available at the Tearoom & Craft Shop near the jetty.  The Tearoom serves locally sourced homemade dishes, including freshly caught shellfish.
